Read In August 2016

Hi! So here are the books that I have read in August!

1. Demon Dentist by David Walliams

My Rating: 2.5/5

Synopsis: “Darkness had come to the town. Strange things were happening in the dead of night. Children would put a tooth under their pillow for the tooth fairy, but in the morning they would wake up to find… a dead slug; a live spider; hundreds of earwigs creeping and crawling beneath their pillow.

Evil was at work. But who or what was behind it…?”

2. Star Racers by Martin Felando

My Rating. 4/5

Synopsis: “In the year 3834, Maelae and other ruthless killers threaten Earth and thousands of planets. Earth’s only hope is to win a dangerous race called Grand Battle.

Everyone thinks Sashi Oon is unqualified to guide any battlejet pilot through the massive obstacles of Grand Battle, and when Sashi chooses the kid from Earth, rookie pilot Rev Arden, no one gives them a chance.

Join Rev, Sashi, rockstars Stepp and Krissy, hundreds of lifelike warrior princess dolls, Scrap Meat, Eyeball, Betsy’s Lover, Little Blue, Pinky & Dux, and Imani from Intelligent Sources on a wildly exciting, fun adventure. Don’t miss the Pinky & Dux Show.

First book in a series of epic adventures.”

3. Anarchy (Hive Trilogy #2) by Jaymin Eve and Leia Stone

My Rating: 3.5/5

Synopsis: “Did Charlie Bennett ever tell you that vampires are evil spawn? Well they are!

She’s had just about enough of them and when the unthinkable happens, she decides it might just be time to use her blood as a weapon against them.

It’s time for a little anarchy.”

4. Sunset Wish by Sabrina Thompson

My Rating: 4/5

Synopsis: “Katelyn had wishes and hopes and dreams. A lot of them faded since her father left, and even more faded when her mother found a new kind of love at the bottom of the bottle. Years of neglect and abuse by her mother and classmates had Katelyn feeling alone in her small town.

Then Jamie took notice. He saw the shy girl who hid behind worn clothes and blue eyes. For him it took very little to fall in love with her. For Katelyn it took all that she had not to fall in love with him. She has been hiding the abuse and hurt for so long can she finally let it go?

In Sabrina Thompson’s debut novel she explores the kind of relationship a victim of domestic abuse faces, and the love that can come out of it. Sunset Wish will have readers fighting with Katelyn and Jamie to find a way to make their love work, and maybe make their wishes come true.”

5. Old Dog New Tricks by Hailey Edwards

My Rating: 3/5

Synopsis: “Black Dog, Book 4

While Thierry is away, the Morrigan will play. Snatching the crown from her daughter-in-law’s head wasn’t the motherly thing to do, but Thierry doesn’t mind trading the throne in Faerie for the ratty couch in her Texas apartment. The old crow is welcome to it. But ruling one world is not enough. The Morrigan wants an all-access pass to the mortal realm too.

An attack on the marshal’s office leaves Thierry shaken…and Shaw missing. Now the fight brewing since Thierry took up the Black Dog’s mantle has landed on her doorstep, and the only way to save the man she loves is to defend the title she never wanted.”

6. The Unearthly by Laura Thalassa

My Rating: 4/5

Synopsis: The first time I was declared dead, I lost my past. The second time, I lost my humanity. Now I’m being hunted, and if I die again, my soul is up for forfeit.

After enrolling in Peel Academy, an elite supernatural boarding school on the British Isles, the last of the sirens, Gabrielle Fiori, only wants to fit in. Instead, the elixir meant to awaken her supernatural abilities kills her.

When Gabrielle wakes up in the morgue twelve hours later, something wicked is awakened in her, something even the supernatural community has never seen before. Now the only person who can help her is Andre de Leon, the community’s infamous bad boy and the king of vampires.

Yet even his help can’t prevent the repeated attempts on Gabrielle’s life. Someone is after her, and they will stop at nothing to end her short existence. Only Gabrielle cannot let that happen now that her soul hangs in the balance, because she may have met the devil. And he wants her. Bad.

7. Inception (The Marked Book 1) by Bianca Scardoni

My Rating: 4/5

Synopsis: “Be careful who you trust, for even the Devil was once an Angel.

My name is Jemma Blackburn, and I have a secret. I know vampires are real. I watched one murder my father eight months ago, and even though they tried to convince me it didn’t happen—that I’d lost touch with reality due to the trauma, I know what I saw was real.

Hollow Hills is now the place I call home. It was supposed to be my chance at a normal life. My chance to bury my secret and start over. But everyone around me is keeping their own secrets, whispering lies into my ears like promises, and one of them is about to turn my entire world upside down.

I thought I had it all figured out. I thought I had the answers. I thought I knew who I was. The truth is, I didn’t even know the half of it. There’s a reason these vampires are still after me. There’s a reason they will always hunt me. Because I’m not human.

I’m the devil they fear and the angel they crave.
Only problem is, I don’t know it yet.

INCEPTION is the enthralling first installment in The Marked series. A YA paranormal romance full of atmosphere, supernatural adventure, and jaw-dropping twists that will keep you guessing until the very last page.”
